Main Cap Girdle Questions

So ive got a main cap girdle on my car, supposed to help strengthen the block, im under the impression that the stock block can withstand around 500-550hp before splitting, what might i expect from a block with a girdle?

Main girdle dosn't help prevent the block from splitting. That is a misconception.

+1--about all that girdle is going to do is hold the pieces together when it splits

I wouldnt say its a pointless mod. Espically if you have spent a lot on a roating asm it might help save it in the event of catastrophic failure.

They look good

Had a guy on a web site tell me that I needed a girdle on my 4 bolt mained SVO block

Told me I was a idiot when I tried to explain to him that the SVO block didn't need a girdle

You guys forgot something. The intake and the girdle help hold the block together when it splits.

No, Ghall mentioned that in post #3. We were just letting him know that the girdle wasn't going to stop the block from splitting in the first place.

Wayne I sent you a PM on your website

Shakes, Wayne is saying that the intake girdle along with the main girdle will help keep the block together.
