The 03's had the "head tick" usually in the left bank. There is a TSB for it. I had mine replaced with no problem. There is also a TSB for the carpet on the drivers side next to the gas pedal causing it to stick...again in the 03's. The drivetrains are pretty good- but like anything else will fail if thrashed hard enough. I'd take someone with you who knows what to look for- like a current or former Termi owner perhaps.....I'd love to help but I'm kind of busy for the next 1/2 yr or so!! lol

Actually the 03's 04's and even Mach 1's had the head tick.. The newer revised heads weren't developed until 05. The "blue dot" on the heads doesn't mean they were fixed. It was merely a marking on the heads to inform the assembly line that the current batch of heads was out and a new one had to be started, that's all. (This information taken directly from a tour at the Ford dealership)

And please, for my sake, do not get a Terminator or LS1.. you're going to ruin it for me if I see you driving one around. Stick with the FWD turbo crowd or get an Evo or something instead.

I would take that info with a grain of salt- not everything you hear ESPECIALLY @ a Stealershipm is true. Only a few of the 03's had the tick. They fixed it starting late 03. Not saying that you can't find an 04 with a Tick or any other mechanical flaw for that matter. But I've been around the Mustang community for several years and owned both 03 and 04 4valves- I've never even heard of an 04 with a tick. Either way it will get replaced under the TSB. It wouldn't be anything I'd shy away from.
